Erin Marie Miller

Erin Marie Miller is a photographer and award-winning journalist based in Metro Detroit.

Formally educated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in photography and a minor in political science, Erin’s photography has been commissioned by magazines, newspapers and brands since 2011. Her images have been published by HOUR Detroit Magazine, Time Out Los Angeles, NYLON Magazine, Nylon Guys, The News-Herald, DBusiness Magazine and many others.

Beyond visuals, Erin’s reporting has been published by magazines and news outlets since 2014. Her work focuses primarily on small businesses, public policy, technology and the arts. Over the last decade, she has interviewed farmers, politicians, winemakers, entrepreneurs, lawmakers, hackers, activists, attorneys, artists, priests, rabbis, musicians and more. In 2021, she was awarded a first-place Excellence in Journalism Award from the Society of Professional Journalists Detroit chapter for her reporting on the economic impact of the pandemic on minority-owned small businesses in Detroit.

Before returning to Michigan in late 2019, Erin lived and worked in Los Angeles for half a decade. She has visited 28 U.S. states, doesn’t own a television and prefers seeing plays to watching movies. When she isn’t behind the lens or researching for a story, you can find her browsing bookshops and record stores, checking out exhibits at art galleries and museums, playing chess with friends, or curled up at home with a cup of coffee and a book.
